1. GATE 2023 Application Process - Important Dates

2. Documents/Information Required for GATE 2023 Application Form

Candidates can apply for the GATE 2023 Exam through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. The documents/information required while filling out the GATE Application Form are as follows:

• Personal information such as candidate's name, DOB, mobile number, parents' name, etc.
• Communication Address (including PIN code)
• Educational Qualification Details
• College name and address
• GATE paper code
• Preferred GATE Exam center locations
• Scanned Image and Signature of candidates
• Scanned copy of Community certificate (for SC/ST candidates), PwD, or Dyslexia certificate in PDF format (if applicable).
• Net-banking/ debit card/ credit card/ UPI details for fee payment.

3. GATE 2023 Application - Step-Wise Process

Step 1: Register as a 'New User' on the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website.

Step 2: After registering, candidates will get an Enrollment ID. Create a password for the respective ID to proceed further.

Step 3: Log in to the GOAPS portal using the Enrollment ID and password and fill out the application form. Applicants need to fill in their personal details, such as Name, DOB, Phone Number, Email ID, Address, Parents' Details, etc., and enter their educational qualification details, such as University Name, Registration Number, etc.

Step 4: Students need to decide the number of papers they want to take. A candidate can register for a maximum of two papers. GATE 2023 aspirants can check out the permitted paper combinations here.

Step 5: Select your preferred exam centers. Candidates can select up to three locations as their preferred examination centers.

Step 6: Aspirants need to upload the scanned documents of their signature, photo, ID proof, and community certificate (applicable for SC/ST candidates).

Step 7: Finally, candidates should pay the exam application fees; payments can be made only through online modes.

Step 8: After successfully paying the GATE Exam fees, submit the GATE 2023 Application Form. Only candidates who register successfully will be able to download the GATE 2023 Admit Card and take the GATE 2023 Exam.

Candidates can apply for the GATE 2023 Exam through the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) website. The documents/information required while filling out the GATE Application Form are as follows:

Conditions for Acceptable Photographs

• The submitted passport-sized photograph should be a color photograph
• The recent photograph should be professionally taken on a white or very light-colored background
• The candidate's face should occupy 60-70% of the area in the photograph
• The photograph must have a full-face view with the candidates looking into the camera directly
• Candidates should not wear tinted glasses or sunglasses. Only clear glasses are allowed
• Both ears must be visible in the photograph

6. GATE 2023 Application Form - Signature Specifications

Conditions for Acceptable Signatures

• The signature by other persons or in colors other than black and blue will Not be accepted.
• Get the digital image of the rectangular box (with signature inside) scanned by using a professional scanner. Crop it to the border of the box.
• If the applicant's signature at the time of examination does not match the signature on the Admit Card, the candidate will be disqualified.

7. How to Check GATE 2023 Application Status

To check the application status, candidates should log in into the GOAPS portal using their credentials. If the application status is "Under Scrutiny/ Under Process," the candidates need not worry. The concerned authorities will review all the GATE Application Forms, and candidates whose application needs to be corrected in areas like photograph/ signature/ supporting documents will get an automatic email/ SMS.

When candidates log in to check the application status, one of the following messages will be displayed on the portal:

• Received - The Application Form is successfully submitted
• Under Scrutiny - The application is under review
• Accepted - The Application Form is accepted; no corrections are required
• Defect Status - Errors in the application are marked to be modified by the candidates
• Status after Rectification - Status of the application after making changes
• Rejected - If errors in Application Form are not corrected within the given time window, the application will be rejected.

8. How to Rectify Mistakes in GATE 2023 Application Form

Once the application is submitted, authorities review the application and check whether it meets the specifications mentioned in the GATE Information Brochure. If any mistakes/error is detected, it is informed to the candidates through their registered email ID.

In case the applicants make any mistakes while filling out the GATE 2023 Application Form, there is an option to correct the mistakes. However, only a few details can be modified by the candidates.

As only some details can be modified in the GATE 2023 Application Form, if you make an unchangeable error, you have to apply again for GATE 2023 using a new email ID and phone number. Please note that the previous application fees will not be refunded.
